Who I Am
Over the last 15 years as a communications professional and journalist, I’ve learned that the key to effective messaging is having the right storyteller. I am that person.
I bring a blend of editorial rigor and creative passion to every project I work on, allowing me to transform complex, often overlooked issues into stories that resonate. What’s more, I have learned how to make an impact in communications across an array of avenues, including multimedia content production, media relations, and digital strategy. No matter the method, I am always looking for creative ways to cut through the noise.
Currently, as the Media Relations Manager at Children’s Defense Fund, I lead the media strategy for our national and six state offices. My focus is on elevating the thought leadership of our experts, whether that’s by placing more than 35 op-eds in outlets like USA Today, the Dallas Morning News, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer, or facilitating interviews with national platforms like NPR. I love the challenge of taking a technical policy or societal topic and refining it into a clear, compelling narrative that connects with the public.
My professional foundation was built in fast-paced newsrooms and at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. I covered everything from the Ferguson Uprising and January 6th insurrection to national sports championships. Those experiences honed my ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while consistently delivering high-quality, informative video and copy under tight deadlines.
